![]() You can follow along on getting started in its installation guide (opens in new tab). It lets you set up different profiles for easily swapping between mod groups, checks for updates, and incompatibility. The open-source project is still in open beta but is already very familiar if you've used a community mod manager for other games. In 2022, the open-source mod manager Stardrop is definitely one of the easiest ways to manage big groups of mods. You can then run Stardew Valley with SMAPI. Content Patcher can be unzipped into Stardew Valley's "mods" folder in the same location dictated above. Many current Stardew Valley mods are compatible with Content Patcher (opens in new tab), a tool which loads a whole host of mods without changing the XNB files, making install and uninstall easier, as well as reducing the likelihood of conflicts between mods. SMAPI does check for mod conflicts and updates, but if you want a really familiar feeling mod managing tool then you'll want to use Stardrop too. You can download the latest version of SMAPI from its website (opens in new tab) and find a pretty thorough walkthrough on how to install it (and keep your Steam achievements enabled while using it) over on the Stardew Valley wiki (opens in new tab). This is a community-made API that is frequently being updated and allows you to use DLL mods. ![]() Mods that make more complex changes may require the "Stardew Modding API", or SMAPI for short. If you want to install quite a few mods, or switch back and forth between different groups of mods for different save files, the Stardrop mod manager is the handiest way to do so in 2022. Some mods might require some important foundational mods like SMAPI below. If you only want a couple handy mods, make sure to check the installation instructions and dependencies and then toss them in your mods folder. Since the player is right on the ocean with this farm they are able to catch ocean fish just by walking out their front door. The beach farm though makes fishing much more lucrative early on. If you're playing through Steam, the default location is "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley". In a normal game of Stardew Valley though is players want to make decent money from fishing they usually need to travel to areas further from their farm. Many are installed just by placing the downloaded files in the "Mods" folder in your Stardew Valley directory. (Image credit: PeacefulEnd)Īdding mods to Stardew Valley can be very straightforward if there are only a couple you want to use. This will take a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to get the chests which contain bonus items. The open-source Stardrop mod manager interface. To get this chest, first fish as usual until you almost catch the fish and then put the green section over the chest until it disappears and then catch the fish. I find tapping the screen instead of holding my thumb down makes it easier to control the gauge and catch the fish.ĭoing the above helped me a lot with the first fishing rod when I was first starting out.īonus tip: Sometimes there will be a cheat on the fishing bar. Wait for the exclamation mark to show up (there is also a distinctive sound when this happens) and then tap the screen immediately once it does show upĪ vertical bar shows up - the aim is to keep the green section of the bar overlapping the fish. Try to get max when casting (leave your finger on the screen to make the bar as full as possible). I found fishing difficult at the start but once I worked out the controls I found it relatively easy (there are still some hard fish which jump around all over the place). With all that said, at the beginning I was catching maybe 3-5 a day and now I can catch over 20 so just stick with it because it does seem to get easier with level ups and the next level fishing rod (I’m using the 850g one now). ![]() ![]() Also, if you’re chasing it to the bottom give it a tap or two before you hit the bottom so it doesn’t bounce a lot and lose time. It seems easier to me if you tell yourself not to overshoot the fish in either direction and get the bar to it a little slower/with more smaller taps rather than attempt a full drop or full hold as I seem to be able to make up the lost amount many times when it’s staying more still.
